Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup is maple syrup aged in real solid oak bourbon barrels for a matter of time. Usually up to 6 months to 1 year.
What does Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup taste like?
Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup tastes slightly like butterscotch, caramel, a mix in between boozy bourbon and sweet dark maple syrup. Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup is delightful on vanilla ice cream, on butter tarts, in cocktails and on pork tenderloin.
How do you make Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup?
To make Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup it’s actually quite simple and straight forward. First you need 100% real all natural maple syrup, a bourbon barrel. You will want to warm up the maple syrup to a temperature of 180 degrees fahrenheit in order for it to be heat sealed into the bourbon barrel. You will fill your bourbon barrel with the warm maple syrup until it is completely full.
Let it age for 6 months to 1 year in a cool dry place, the longer it sits, the more intense the flavour. Once you are happy with your product, pump the maple syrup out of the barrel and filter it to remove the wood residue from the oak barrel.
Now, all you have to do is bottle it!
